Lessons

More Than Just Lessons.

Your horse's behavior has a reason behind it.

Whether your horse is hard to catch, anxious, resistant, inconsistent under saddle, or simply not responding the way you'd hoped, those behaviors rarely appear out of nowhere.

The sooner you recognize what your horse is communicating and feel confident in how to respond, the less behavioral problems you have to fix.

For the past 15 years, I've coached horse owners to better understand the horse standing in front of them so they can build calmer, safer, and more willing partnerships.

Whether you're working through a specific challenge or looking to strengthen the relationship with your horse, every lesson is personalized to you, your horse, and your goals.

Lessons Built Around You and Your Horse

Whether you choose in-person or virtual lessons, you'll receive the support, guidance, and practical tools to build a relationship that feels both functional and deeply fulfilling.

Every lesson builds on the last, helping you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Practical Guidance. Lasting Progress.

With a focus on practical tools and meaningful progress, I work closely with each horse and rider to discover what helps your partnership thrive.

Whether you're overcoming challenges, building a solid foundation, or reaching for the next level, you'll receive personalized support that creates lasting change.

How I can help

  • Behavior & Problem Solving
Every behavior has a reason. Whether you're working through catching issues, trailer loading, standing for the farrier, anxiety, resistance, or other training challenges, we'll uncover the "why" behind the behavior and create practical solutions that last.
  • Horse-Human Relationship

What clients have said:

"Kate is patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. As a new rider she helped me understand horses, build confidence, and overcome every fear. I watched her work with kids, adults, and all kinds of horses; she is amazing in every setting. She teaches with passion and skill. Highly recommend her for anything you need." -Karyn

"After a serious riding accident and time in the ICU, I was afraid to get back on a horse. Kate patiently helped me rebuild my confidence and find joy in riding again. Now in my mid-70s I ride several times a week and even train my own filly. I can never thank her enough." - Ken B

Frequently Asked Questions:
  • What makes Blazing Hearts Horsemanship different?

Kate places the horse-human relationship at the center of everything. Her approach is grounded in mutual respect, honesty, trust, kindness, and compassion. She helps horse owners recognize what their horse is communicating and respond with clarity and confidence—something many traditional riding lessons never teach.

  • Can I learn with other people?

Yes. While lessons are geared for one-on-one, the virtual Horse-Huamn Relationship program as well as in-person clinics are geared for groups, perfect for community support. And, if you're local, ask about reoccuring group sessions at your own arena: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly options are available.

  • How are virtual lessons beneficial?

Virtual coaching gives you access to expert guidance, right from home, no matter where you are located. Whether you're participating live in real-time virtual coaching or reviewing your personalized feedback later, these sessions keep your horsemanship growing strong.

  • Do you need a fancy set up or camera for virtual coaching?

No. Your cell phone works perfectly. Simply set it on a tripod, fence, or ask someone to hold it for you. I recommend Bluetooth headphones so you can move away from your phone while still hearing me clearly. Make sure your phone is fully charged before each session, and ensure you have strong cell reception or WiFi connection. If needed, consider a signal booster or WiFi extender for areas with poor connectivity.

  • If I wanted to up my virtual coaching game, what do you suggest I get?

Start with Bluetooth headphones, they're essential for clear communication while moving around. Next, invest in a tripod for stable video. For serious upgrades, consider a Pivo or similar auto-tracking device that mounts your phone and follows you and your horse with 360-degree rotation, completely hands-free. If your phone battery drains quickly during sessions, add a portable charger or power bank that you can connect while filming to keep your device charged throughout the entire session.

  • What's the bonus of in-person lessons?

In-person sessions offer hands-on support and the chance to work directly with your horse or one of ours. There's something uniquely powerful about learning together in the same space; and Kate's presence brings added clarity, confidence, and connection.

  • Do you offer lessons for children?

Yes. I offer lessons for children 12 and under, with an emphasis on safety, confidence, and foundational horsemanship. Lessons are available on your horse or on ours.
